- This DVD series, LIFE IN AN AMERICAN VILLAGE, is a documentary filmmaking project by cultural anthropologist and anthropological filmmaker Jack Rollwagen. The intent of this project is to present a holistic approach to life in the area around the village of Brockport, New York, a community in upstate New York between the cities of Rochester and Buffalo. The goal of this series is to provide an insight into the complex lives of people in that area through a series of DVDs focused on a variety of topics. Each multi-disk DVD set focuses on a particular topic (e.g., art, religion, agriculture, etc.) and includes a number of free-standing films (of from 10 to 50 minutes each) that examine aspects of that topic. Each DVD set also includes interviews with acknowledged experts who have published on that topic. The LIFE IN AN AMERICAN VILLAGE series is targeted for university-level audiences, both in the United States and elsewhere, particularly those who wish to learn more about American society and culture from a social science perspective.
